Spencer Spit State Park 521 A. Bakerview Road, Lopez Island, WA 98261

This unique park features a rare sand spit enclosed by a saltwater lagoon on Lopez Island. Stay a while at the campground or at one of the group camps and enjoy all the water has to offer.

Things to do at this park Picnic and day use Three picnic shelters without electricity are available. One shelter is reservable and has four picnic tables, a barbecue grill, fire pit and water spigot. The other two picnic shelters have two picnic tables each and are available first-come, first-served.

Camping Choose from private campsites, open beachside sites or from one of the group camps.

There are 37 standard reservable campsites and sixteen hiker/biker sites that are available first-come, first-served. Three first come, first served Cascadia Marine Trail sites are available if you arrive by wind- or human-powered watercraft.

A dump station and two restrooms are located nearby, but there are no showers or hook ups. Most of the campsites are large and private. A composting toilet is located near the beach campsites.

Group camp G-1 is reservable and has three walk-in sites, one of which is an Adirondack shelter with eight bunks. It can accommodate up to 24 people and 3 vehicles.

G-3 is reservable and has a kitchen shelter with an electrical outlet, water spigot, three picnic tables, a pedestal barbecue and fire pit. It can accommodate up to 24 people, a trailer, six tents and five vehicles.

Boating Eleven moorage buoys are available, eight on the north side of the spit and three on the south side. Moorage fees are charged year round for mooring at docks, floats and buoys from 1 p.m. to 8 a.m. Daily and annual permits are available. Phone registration is available at buoys.

Moorage is located at Latitude: 48º 32' 23" N (48.5397) and Longitude: 122º 51' 15.84" W (-122.8544).

Water activities You can rent sea kayaks, stand up paddle boards and safety gear from Outdoor Adventure Center's rental shack located on the beach. They also offer bicycle and helmet rentals and run adventure tours. If you're new to kayaking or don't feel confident on the water, sign up for a skills class where you can learn the basics and how to stay safe.

Rentals are available daily May through Labor Day and on weekends in September. View prices and sign up online.

Hiking Take in lovely water views and spot local wildlife on two miles of flat trails that run around the edge of the park, along the lagoon and down the spit.
