Located in the San Juan Islands, Matia Island Marine State Park is a secluded little island accessible only by boat.

Things to do at this park Picture a green fairy forest of moss-covered rocks and cedar trees. Matia Island archipelago is known for its old-growth trees, rainforest vibe and dramatic cove with a fantasy forest canopy and swirling sandstone formations.

Water activities Boaters may use the 128-foot moorage dock or the buoys. Phone registration is available at the buoys. Moorage fees are charged year round for mooring at docks, floats and buoys from 1 p.m. to 8 a.m. Daily and annual permits are available.

Fishing, crabbing and shellfishing may be done at the park. For regulations, fishing season information, or to purchase a recreational license, visit the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Diving and kayaking may be done here with advanced experience and gear.

Camping Camping at Rolfe Cove campground is first-come, first-served. There are six sites available. Potable water and trash service are not available.
